Sugar River Transit
Dec 19 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Monroe Cab & ADRC Partner to Keep You Connected

Sugar River Transit – Serving Belleville, Monticello & New Glarus

Take a trip North of Monroe and you will encounter a wealth of interesting spots as you venture through Monticello, New Glarus, and finally into Belleville.  Each village, though small, has its own unique flavor and offerings to the growing family or active senior.  Under the surface though is the warmth and history of the community members who make each village special.

These community connections are not only nice, they also contribute to your overall health.  AARP reports that social contact can prevent long-term illness, lowers your risk for depression, and keeps you optimistic about the future, to name a few!  The other good news is for seniors in Monticello, New Glarus, or Belleville there is now a public transportation service available for you to use.  It is called Sugar River Transit.

Sugar River Transit is the result of a new partnership between the Monroe Cab and the Aging & Disability Resource Center.  It provides a wheelchair accessible transport service on Tuesdays  from 10 am to 2 pm.  Riders can be of any age and can request a ride for any reason, whether it be a medical appointment, groceries, banking, or a lunch out with friends.  Through this partnership we hope residents who utilize UW-Belleville Family Medicine or Monroe Clinic-New Glarus will view this as an opportunity to keep up with medical appointments and stay healthy.

The service area includes the villages of Belleville, Monticello, and New Glarus offering both in-town and between-town rides.  The rate schedule, determined by a community survey done in July of 2016, includes a $2 each way fare for in-town rides and a $4 each way fare for between-town rides.  Scheduling is also easy.  You may schedule in advance or the day of for transportation.  To schedule a ride call Monroe Cab at 608-325-6993 and let them know your needs.
