The Seniors United for Nutrition (SUN) Board extends its heartfelt gratitude to all past boards, volunteers, and participants who have helped us operate and thrive over the past 46 years. Your dedication and support have been instrumental in our success.
As we reflect on the challenges that have shaped our program, we acknowledge that inflation and the COVID-19 pandemic have significantly impacted our operations. These changes have made it increasingly difficult to find an Executive Director who can effectively lead the program within our current financial resources.
After careful consideration, the SUN Board has decided to bring the nutrition program in-house to Iowa and Lafayette Counties, a model already adopted by most other counties in Wisconsin. We believe this approach will ensure long-term sustainability and stability in our management, a critical element as we continue to serve our community.
While the shift in management structure may bring changes, we want to reassure our volunteers that we deeply appreciate their dedication. All current volunteers are encouraged to remain in place if they wish to continue supporting the program, and we will work with them closely as we transition.
The top priority for both counties remains clear: to continue providing nutritious meals to our most vulnerable seniors—both now and into the future. We are committed to this mission and will work diligently to ensure that the senior nutrition program remains strong and accessible for those who need it most.
